Utah State Fair & Random thoughts

Skydive Ogden jumped into the Utah State Fair Rodeo Thursday through Sunday. I did the ground crew every night and we couldn't have asked for better weather. It was perfect and everyone landed great every night.

I put a quote on my header underneath my name which reads: "All life is an experiment. The more experiments you make, the better." I think that is a pretty good life motto for me.

Previously my life motto was: "You have to go through a lot of crap, to get to the good stuff." I made this quote up when I was a teenager from my experiences at Lake Powell. Some of the hikes are not so fun, but what you hike to is awesome and totally worth it. More specifically the hike to Choall Falls at the end of Navajo Canyon. Almost everytime we went on this hike we would have to slowly push/pull our way through a HUGE log jam in the boat. One year we actually had to walk through it, gross as it gets. Then once you get passed the log jam because of the varrying water levels over the years you get to walk through mud/clay/sewer smelling water mud that sticks to your sandals and gets thicker with each step. For some reason it doesn't stick to bare feet so that's usually the route we go. Then finally after all the nastiness you get to sand and a little stream and the rest of the hike is great.
Choall Falls is one of my favorite places on this earth. Last year we hiked it and it was a 12 mile round trip hike because the Lake level was so low, it was miserable and I barely made it back to the boat but it was still worth it.

Life is so much like this quote too. Luckily I haven't had to go through too much crap to get to the good stuff. I am blessed. Now, hopefully I didn't just jinx myself.

Good analogy! We did that last year and I couldn't believe all the sick water we had to go through to get to the good parts. We would find dirty debris one us in places we didn't even know we had! Beautiful picture!
